Our Story

Over 50 years ago, Linda Johnstun founded Linda Johnstun’s School of Dance, building a legacy of strong dance technique and a safe learning space for her students. Over the years, uncounted dancers received superb dance instruction and skills to last a lifetime.
Having taught modern dance at the studio since 2006, Kelli Darter became the director of Linda’s School of Dance in 2020. In 2025, the studio began a new chapter as Moving Art Academy.
Our rebranding reflects our mission to create a space for all forms of “art that moves” and to collaborate with more creative dreamers. While our name has changed, our dedication to strong technique and our core values remain the same. The Nonstop Dance Company, founded in 1986, continues to provide strong and challenging dance technique for our oldest students, and we are also pleased to be the home of the new Carbon Civic Ballet.
We are committed to providing solid technique to everyone who wishes to learn dance, instilling the poise, grace, self-confidence and respect that all our students deserve.
At Moving Art Academy, students can discover the finesse and discipline of dance, where every movement is a harmonious blend of precision and artistry. With expert instruction and a rich tradition, our classes are designed to inspire and elevate passion for dance.
